The job at Robert’s Onehunga Road property in Bayview was a little different than many of Kiwibuild NZ’s other projects but one we hope to do more of in the future. It involved building a bedsit and several other rooms in a large KiwiSpan shed to house the kids when they came home to visit from outside Hawke’s Bay.
The 20m2 bedsit build is made up of two rooms. The main area contains two single beds (or one queen-size), a couple of lounge chairs and a small table, with a basic kitchenette at the far end. In a second room a bathroom complete with shower, vanity basin and toilet was built.
Around the corner on the other side of the large shed another separate toilet room was built in along with a saddle / storage room.
“In a nutshell, we gave Maurice from Kiwibuild NZ a verbal brief, he drew up the plans to get council consents, then carried out the building. Nice and simple just the way we like it. What’s more, he also organised, managed and led the other trade-work, which included electrical, plumbing, plastering and painting.
Basically we put our trust in Kiwibuild NZ and Maurice more than delivered on budget and in great time. He started close to Christmas, took bugger all days off over the break and by late January we were all done and dusted.
Quite honestly things went as smooth as they could thanks to Maurice. He made everything easy for us so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kiwibuild NZ for any kind of building at all.”
